2015 Holiday Gift List.

This is the list for him.  This is the list for her.   And this is the list for the little ones they produce.  The people who either have everything, claim not to want anything or live so far away you have no idea what their lives entail.  This is the list for them.

Artifact Uprising

You know all those pics your friends send you of their children in football uniforms, hanging out at birthday parties, and sitting at the table with spaghetti sauce on their faces? Pull them off of those texts and grab a few from Instagram and put them together to present hard copies to the little guys (and their parents). Let them look at their lives through someone else’s eyes.  For $24 the kiddies will receive a rotating collection of 12 suitably embarrassing photos to hide from future boyfriends.

Bang & Olufsen Speakers

Bang & Olufsen – Beoplay A9 speaker.  Definitely one for the parents.
Cool design.  Wireless connectivity.  Compatibility with Apple and Android devices.  Hefty price tag. The picture above does not really do the trick – they are about 3-feet tall and awesome! Buy them here.

Table Topics

Table Topics.
It is hard to start a conversation with 6 and 8-year-olds, especially when you kick off with, “If you mention Minecraft again you’re going to sleep without dinner!”  Let this little acrylic box of conversation starters guide you.  There is no game board.  There are no points attached.  You can quit after one card.  There are different versions for men, women, old and young.  The family version has questions like Which wild animal would you like to tame and keep as a pet? Would you rather live for a week in the past or the future? What family or school rule would you most like to change?  And the Do It Yourself Therapy version includes questions like Whose parents did you wish you had? If you’re in denial about one thing, what is it?  If you had multiple personalities, what would they be?

Cut crystal tumblerCut Glass Tumblers.
We are all grown-up now, kinda.  Time to start drinking like it.  These cut crystal glasses will last for years and are best used for Whiskey on the rocks while sitting in your favorite leather armchair listening to vinyl on your rebuilt vintage record player with your black Lab snoozing dutifully by your feet.  ‘Cause that’s what grown-ups do, right?

Jellycat LionJellycat stuffed animals
These beasts are the kings of the stuffed animal kingdom.  They are the softest, cuddliest, draggy-aroundyist collection of furry lovies ever created. It’s impossible not to bury your head in their fluffy fur and revert, immediately, to your imperfect childhood.

Eden Presley MANTRA

Eden Presley “Mantra” bracelets.
What are your words to live by?  Mine are “Be Here Now” and I had an Eden Presley bracelet made to that effect two years ago when I felt like I needed a reminder.  I wear it when I travel, I wear it when I work, I wear it whenever I need to snap back to the here and now.  Have your own mantra turned into jewelry or choose one of her ready-made ones.  Next on my list is To Thine Own Self Be True.  *hint hint*  Oh, and the bracelets are designed and made in New York City.  Hell yeah.

Instant digital cameraInstant digital camera.  Because digital isn’t quite  instant enough.  Order from Amazon no matter where you are in the world.

Playboy really is about the articles

In mid-October Playboy announced they would no longer be showing naked women in the magazine because the internet made the pastime of perusing them, well, passé.  That alone stands examination but let’s save that for another day.  For today, Playboy really IS about the articles.  Don’t be a prude.  Subscribe here.

Graham's 20 Year Old Tawny Port

This is the best Port I’ve had for the price in….ever.  And it comes in a really attractive bottle in gift-worthy cardboard cylinder.  In the UK Ocado delivers it to your door.  In the US try your local high-end wine shop or try Sherry Lehmann.  They deliver too!

A grown up umbrella. For my 40th birthday in February my friend Todla bought me the most gorgeous Italian umbrella from Bella Umbrella on Magazine Street in New Orleans.  Despite such significant life occurrences as marrying, having children and moving country (a few times) nothing makes me feel as grown up as having a “proper” umbrella.  I had no idea what I was missing until she introduced it to my life.  It dresses up outfits, gives me a little walking stick as I stroll down the sidewalk and gives me a reason to swing by the restaurant I ate at last night to pick it up the next morning.   Lucky for you Bella Umbrella ships all over the world.
