Visiting New Orleans and doing it right.

Mardi Gras floats are rolling right this second and so it may seem like poor timing for a guide to New Orleans.  Perhaps, you might reason, this is information that would have been more helpful to you a week ago.  But listen, Mardi Gras is a very special time in New Orleans but it isn’t the ONLY special time.  Mardi Gras gives way to St. Patrick’s Day, then French Quarter Fest which precedes Jazz Fest and Jazz Fest hurls us into the late spring / early summer that is the time everyone should visit New Orleans.  Take August and September off and then then you get to October which is another perfect time to visit the city that care forgot.  Stick around for Thanksgiving and a Creole Christmas, well you might as well hang out for New Year’s Eve and dance the night away before January rolls around which celebrates the beginning of carnival season.  There you go.  Mardi Gras is just the beginning…New Orleans is the end.

I was over the moon when the lovely Meredith at Draper James reached out a few months ago for some of my ideas on where to go and what to do in New Orleans.  She took my input and put together the most amazing guide with tidbits from a half dozen incredible New Orleanians.  The result, which took a lot of time and love, is the very best of what New Orleans has to offer at this very moment.  Click below and see for yourself!

And as long as we are here I also want to share my other two favorite NOLA guides.  First up, my friend Joy has the New Orleans guide I send to everyone and anyone visiting when I do not have time to write up personal recommendations.  I trust her judgement and because she is all the way across town and harbors no ankle biters she has a different perspective than I do on our city.  Very handy.    Lastly, but mustn’t be missed, the super fun and extremely talented Alexa Pulitzer has compiled a selection of the tried and true, the historical and revered places in NOLA that shouldn’t be missed.  She shares her thoughts on her website where you can also order her stationery treasures.

So look no further….this is everything you need to know for your visit to New Orleans from three different fabulous places.  Now, go pack!

I love this listing but can you post just your New Orleans recommendations in full?

That’s a good point. And since I was just in New Orleans I can do it with lots of great photos. I’ll work on that asap.
